Michael “Smidi” Smith is an Emmy, Clio and Addy Award winner who has written and produced songs that have sold over 14 million copies worldwide including multiple #1 songs, albums and top tens. Smidi has worked with Giorgio Moroder, Sia, Coldplay, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Kelly Rowland, REZZ, the Pussycat Dolls, Tyrone Wells and others. Smidi began his career as a keyboardist, playing in bands with Keith Urban and Ben Folds. After moving to Los Angeles, Smidi signed a publishing deal with Sony ATV and began focusing on album writing and produciton.

Smidi’s music has been licensed and placed in thousands of shows and commercials. Notably, worldwide music licenses for Apple. He has also written and produced music for several shows on NBC, including The Voice, 30 Rock, The Office, Up All Night, Grimm, Parenthood, Parks and Rec, Meet The Press and Law and Order SVU. Smidi has written and produced music used in ads for Budweiser, Kellogg’s, Coke, NBC and several others. He has 4 Emmy nominations for his work in television and won BMI’s Film and TV award in 2019.

Internationally, Smidi is known for his global theme for Live Earth, the largest televised concert in history produced by Kevin Wall on NBC. His theme opened the event delivered across 7 contents with concerts in New York, London, Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg and Hamburg – as well as special broadcast events in Antarctica, Kyoto and Washington, DC. – and broadcast in the USA on NBC. Smidi recently penned a brand deal in Japan as a EDM writer, remixer and producer. His first 2 projects, Namie Amuro and Exile Tribe both went #1 in Japan and are both Double Platinum sellers.
